Default Exterior Doors

Since my last post all my questions were answered very well going to try another. I want to replace my exterior doors on my house. My house is 105 years old. The problem I have is all my door jams are 5 1/2 inchs instaed of your standard size now of 4 9/16. How can I do this with out having custom doors made.

Doors can be ordered with any size jamb, but if you have a table saw it is easy to make extensions as suggested above. Getting them to sit exactly flush or invisible is not always easy, so the offset gives some deatil to the jamb. Use 3/4 or 5/4 stock.

If you have to pay someone to make jamb extensions, better to order them.
