Exterior Door Problem

When I bought the house it had a hollow core interior door from in the house out to the garage. Not cool.
Installed a new exterior, fire rated door. The trim and the metal threshold extend past the foundation about 1 7/8". See pic. Am I correct in thinking that I can take a piece of treated lumber, adhesive and lag bolt it to the foundation under the over hanging parts and support it. Would this be an acceptable fix? Other ideas?

You can do that. I’d use tapcon screws instead lags though.

You could also use a composite material as the lip of the threshold wouldn't require that much support.
