Exterior Door Install

When nailing or screwing the door to the framing.
Would you put your fasteners through the latch and hinge portion of the jamb or the exterior side?

TIA

I put them behind the weatherstripping and replaced several hinge screws with longer ones to reach the framing. In your words, the "latch and hinge" side.

Thanks all,
The instructions that came with my door only mentioned fasteners in the interior portion of the jamb. I thought that was odd as there's more meat on the exterior side. I'm planning on countersinking screws and plugging the holes.
