I would like to replace the overlay hinges with the European style totally concealed hinges. My problem is my cabinet door sides are curved. On the side closest to the cabinet, there is a 3/8" overlay of the cabinet door on the face frame. However, at its furthest distance, the overlay of the cabinet door on the face frame is 5/8"
To keep the cabinet door from hitting the face frame when the door swings open, I assume I would need to buy a European style hinge for a 5/8" overlay?
However, if I do that, all of the European hinges say I am supposed to drill the 35mm hole to hold the hinge cup 3mm from the edge of the door. If I drill the hole for the hinge cup 3mm from the 5/8" edge, then part of the hinge cup will stick out and will not rest completely inside the door (due to the curved cabinet edge).
Any suggestions on how to deal with this? All the DIY instructions assume a straight corner cabinet door edge and are of no help to me here. Should I drill the hole for the 35mm cup further away from the curved edge so that the European hinge will be completely inside the door. If so, what size faceframe overlay hinge should I purchase?
