entertainment center modification
I'm definitely not going to tackle this myself, will get a carpenter if it's possible. I have a big oak entertainment center with an opening for 27" tv, and I want to have it cut down so I can use the bottom for my new tv. I need a good carpenter in the Pittsburgh area!

Did the same thing to mine, worked out great.

Any chance you have photos, or any suggestions on how it was done? I be getting a carpenter to do it, but I suppose I should give him some ideas. Thanks Diane

What I did was set up a temporary guide / straight edge, used a finishing blade in my circular saw, I cut the top portion of the section off. I then capped the sawn edge with a molding piece, which came from the top of the cabinet.
Looks like it was built that way. Mark |
A good idea to put tape along where the cut will be, mark for the cut on the tape and also score the cut line with a knife. Where possible, cut on the hidden side of the unit. If you're hiring a carpenter, at least make sure he's a decent finish man with some experience with this
