drilled through ceiling joist
Hello, I was running wire from my attic, down through the exterior wall of a bedroom, and into my garage under the bedroom. I was drilling up through the top plate in the garage and ended up drilling through a ceiling joist with a 5/8 spade bit. It was at a bit of an angle towards the outside of the house. I'm concerned the structural integrity is compromised. any advice would be appreciated.

What size are the joists and where in the joist did you drill through it?

It is probably fine in all likelihood.

thanks for the response, the joists are 2x7. I basically drilled straight up into it at an angle aimed toward the outside of the house. I would guess when I hit the joist it was about 1" from the inner edge of the plate. I probably went at least half way through it and started to hit siding.

does the joist sit on top of the wall?

Don't worry about it.
