double folding doors

i have an entry into a little used dining room. i want to install 4 doors/panels in which the doors (2 on each side) will fold onto each other then both onto existing vacant wall space on each side of the entry way.
my thinking is like shutter hinging.

help!

Sounds like a bifold door. But without details of the opening size, it's hard to give advice.

It can be done. You will need to install jambs and casing on the opening.

High quality bi-fold doors could be used--they would have to be hinged to the new jambs like conventional doors, stop molding applied to the jambs.

a double set of ball catches should hold them secure when closed.

This all may sound like gibberish to you if you aren't familiar to the terminology.

In layman's terms--Yes you can do this.----Mike---

Have you thought about a double pocket door?

Installing doors that way is like taking the pins loose in the middle of a set of bi-folds. They just dangle there in the dang way. I have done this kind of install but the outer door liked to "open" into the room. The solution was a decent magnetic catch (carefully hidden) to keep the dang things together when in the open position. They worked but were kind cumbersome. Have you concidered some nice drapes?LOL:)
