DOOR Questions

Hi everyone,

The lock on my bathroom door isnt catching in the latch. Without turning the knob, I can open and close the door, but the lock doesnt seem to slide into the latch, which sorta defeats the purpose of having the lock.

I took the knob off and switched it with another to see if maybe that was the problem, but the same thing keeps happening. The door itself looks to be fine..swings open and closed without catching or rubbing the frame, but this lock has got be beat....so far.

Any ideas?

DOOR Questions

close the door so the bolt (the bar that comes out of the door)hits the striker plate and mark its location top and bottom then open the door and see if its lined up with the whole in the jamb.If its not you will have to do a few checks. close the door and see if the tiny space around the door is even. If its a bigger gap at the top or the bottom check the srews in the hinges and tighten if nessisary. If the screws on the hinges are tight then chances are the door jamb has settled and you will have to remove it and reinstall it OR just move the striker plate so the bolt fits into the hole.
