door hinge pin trick

I have recently learned that if you have a door in your house that constantly swings open on its own, take out the center hinge pin. Place the pin on a hard surface and hit the pin right in the middle with a hammer. It will bend the pin a little bit. Place the pin back in and the door should hold in position. If it still moves then do the top pin. I did it on 2 doors in my house and it works great. Of course if you put the doors in properly this shouldnt happen.

door hinge pin trick

You know all that black grit that develops on some of your hinges? (Ask your wife.) Well, the bent hinge pin trick is what causes it. It's actually metal being ground off the inside of the hinges.
