Door Casing Install....

I have seen this done a few ways and was wondering what you guys though was best.

THe way I normally go about it is to measure the side's and add 1/4" for reveal. Measure accross the top and add 1/2" for reveal. I find the center of the top and tack that piece in place. Hang the sides and nail it all in.

I have seen people actually assemble it on the floor then lift it into place already together.

What is the best was for a DIYer to do this?

Door Casing Install....

Double check jambs for level & plumb. Now is the time to fix it.

pencil scribe your architectural revel on the jambs. I like 3/16th but, match what you have in the house.

Measure to short point ( I pencil mark my tape)/ cut your 45's on the casing

Install casing following your scribe marks. ( a little practice and the scribe is easy)

Less chance for a silly math error. ( Have you seen the price of casing these days?)

three measures and no math.
