nice pic.

thanks

im going to bring that down to the inspections dept and get their buy-in.
im kicking myself now because i think i probably could have done that with just a rough octagon hole in the wall instead of taking out all the drywall....lesson learned i guess.

Sister a stud next to the window for 2 total on one side, add 2 more right next to the window on the other side. Add sill (2x4) above and below window with 1/2" space around installed window. Support window on 1/4" lath continuous shim. Leave 1/4" gap above window/sill joint for settling later. (Required)

Install window per: http://www.finehomebuilding.com/how-...x?nterms=63740

Didn't know you had removed all the drywall. You can build anything at all you choose with that much room. I thought you were working with just a window sized opening.

yeah. ive toyued with the dea of some bigger double hungs in that area instead of just the octagons and tehn adding some built-ins with benches etc. on a positive note, it gives me a chance to update the insulation on that wall -- whatever difference that makes.
