add the joists, decking and handrail then check it.
the reason the crown is 'up' is to have the weight of the deck straighten it... sort of.
attach the middle posts to the beam and brace them plumb.

dabber...you cant really pull it down. Possible to cut new posts? This is the reason I wait until beam is set to cut the center posts.

I would just cut the beam half-way through from the bottom over the middle posts. Stronger than using 3 shorter beams.

Be safe, Gary

GBR... interesting thought. Thanks. But I was thinking more about making the posts fit the beam. I guess as long as you get to where you need to be.

If you have a beam with an excessive crown over a post you cut the beam, problem solved.

Are the joists and decking on yet? Or, just joists? If there are no joists and decking on yet, install the joists and watch the weight of the joists push the beam down to the posts and then fasten. If the joists don't do it wait until you start putting the decking down.
