Crown Molding Transition over narrow gap between ceiling and window top ...
1 Attachment(s)
I am trying to do crown molding in a living room which is 27'x15' and with 8' ceiling. The problem is two windows which are just about 2" from the ceiling - too close. :( Please see the picture attached.

I like to have the 4" molding considering the size of the room. But how do I transition over the windows without making it ugly? Any ideas are highly appreciated. Thanks much.

Use really small crown molding or
before you hit the window, 90* the crown molding so it looks like it deadends into the wall.

I'm no carpenter, so someone else might chime in with some other ideas.

You could try putting a arched cornice and than end the molding into that.Attachment 17628

There are many ways to make the cornice or buy one. If you make it like a box and than cut an arch out of the front to match the arch of the window it could look real nice. They are mainly made for hiding the curtain rod. You could put a valance up if you are not looking for full length curtains. Anyways just an idea. The room is looking great keep up the good work.

Crown Molding transition: use of Cornice
The cornice idea looks really promising. I am going to research a bit more in that area and move. Thanks much for the suggestion and the encouragement.
