crown molding on popcorn ceiling

No matter how well I do with the crown I expect to have a problem filling the gaps caused by it abutting the popcorn ceiling. I know I can caulk but think that might not give a straight paint line. Note too the paint color for the crown is different from the ceiling. Any suggestions? Thanks

Use a scrap piece of moulding to mark where it will sit on the ceiling, then scrape off the popcorn up to that point. You'll still need to caulk as I've never met a crown moulding to ceiling joint that didn't need it

Use a 3" putty knife. It's fast and easy. You only need to scrape the width of the part of the crown that contacts the ceiling.

My wife likes popcorn ceilings. We just put one in a year ago.

I don't notice them one way or another.

Here's my crown. on a textured ceiling.

extreme closeup you can see the caulk. standing on the floor, you don't notice and besides it looks way better than how it looks with none.
