crown molding gaps at ceiling line

My crown molding (wood) is coming loose from the ceiling and leaving pretty large (1/4 inch) gaps. How can I fix this? I don't think the molding was nailed into studs.

Only 2 sides of a room will have joists to nail into. If you have a nailer, shoot nails into the crown at an angle after using an adhesive in the large gaps.

Sometimes, nails at opposite angles into the drywall will help.

If you use this with a combination of glue, the nails will act as a clamp until the glue sets
