Default closing in porch stairs - design question

Hi.

About to close in my stairs leading up to the porch.

Wondering:

a) box it in with vertically oriented white painted bead board that i have sitting in my barn (the old narrow stuff); do the rest of the porch in lattice

or

b) lattice the sides of the stairs down to the ground, and lattice everywhere else as well.

or

c) leave the stairs open on the sides, lattice everywhere else (this still would enclose the porch from animals.

i need to decide this tonight as i'll be doing it tomorrow.
from a design standpoint, which do you guys think would look best?

i have mahogany treads, mahogany porch floor. skirtboards and kicks so far are primed white, along with the rest of the trim.

here's how it was before:

the old stairs (in the picture) had the paneled beadboard alongside and i thought it looked OK.
so maybe i'll try it, unless you guys think that it's lame.

thanks.

I can tell you what I don't like. Boxed in stairs.

Not much help, am I?

so does lattice count as "boxed in?"

what would you do, then?

I am a minimalist. I like simple and clean.

How's that for vague?
