I'm building a closet in a recessed section of an old office room. I wondering the best way to frame and finish this wall. 8' opening '6 foot of double folding doors, and 8' height. First, what the best way do set the wall in place. bottom or top first?
Secondly, how should I attach this stud wall the the home's existing frame?
Thirdly, what are the typical measurments for the wood plate on the door jam side where the closet doors will be. I don't know what it is called. anyway how much room should i leave in the door opening for that type of finish piece work or should i go with sheetrock all the way around
its kind of hard to sort out your post, hail the wall in place with the same nails that you build the wall with. 3 to 3 1/2 " nails.
for the opening if your installing a set of doors there is no reason to sheetrock the jambs, this would even lead to a weaker conection for the doors. you want 2 studs on each side of the opening.
as for the size of the opening, buy your door first and it will give you the rough opening you need for it.
