Closet in bathroom???

Hi, just bought a house that needs some help. One of the things is that the bathroom (which has no door, only an archway????) has a closet inside.

Is there a problem with this? Will the clothes get destroyed from the humidity?

Here is a drawing of the current layout, and the original which can be found in several other similar houses.

Your thoughts?

ps. what is with no door on a bathroom

Things to consider are frequency and duration of shower use, and whether or not there is proper exhaust in place to evacuate the moisture from the room.

There is no way to know what you are up against without some experimentation over time.

You can frame in the toilet like in the similar diagram if you want privacy. Is there a fan in the bathroom?
I have a vanity cabinet under my sink where I keep towels & such with no problems. I probably wouldn't use that cabinet for my good Sunday duds, but you could use it for coats or something.

As for no door, not that uncommon, particularly if it is a master bedroom with a master bath, but not that hard to install if you want one. In regard to the closet, perhaps you could relocate the door, to make it accessible from another room?

I see no issue with a bath closet. The bath should have an effective fan, so humidity should not be of concern.

Nothing I like better than a nice hot shower and then grab a big hooded parka and put it on!

So this would be handy.

A bathroom without a door would be handy if you ever have poutine with bad gravy!
