Church group trying to make T-11 look like a wall in a home we're redoing
 

Our church group is redoing an elderly ladies home for her. This place was built in 33 so we have some fun stuff on our hands.


The walls in several rooms are T-11! Not only is it ugly the rough texture is a magnet for dust bunny's.


We thought about skim coating it and then shooting a knockdown onto it. Love the way that hides those imperfection. That might work on the flat parts, but the groves would shrink and might not adhere well.


Any ideas on what we could do (cheaply) to make the T-11 look like a wall in a house should?

The cheapest fastest and easiest thing to do is to put 1/4 inch sheetrock right over the t-11. You can spend hours sanding sealing painting that but its still going to look like t-11 Might as well just do it half right the first time.

Yes, overlay the walls with sheetrock, just make sure that the T1-11 is properly secured. When isntalling the Sheetrock, make sure to use longer screws and go into the studs.

Agreed, skim coating T1-11 won't be a very good fix. I also vote for application of sheetrock, or perhaps some sort of beadboard or paneling.
