Cheap Wood Flooring - Is it Possible?

I was hoping to pull out my old carpet and replace it with a super cheap but durable wide plan boards. I was wondering if I could use oak construction boards. I would like to paint the wood white so I don't need any finish. Can anyone tell me if this is possible. I would like it to have the wide old wide plank flooring look. I know I will have a lot of maintenence and work to do in painting it, but I just wanted to know if was even a possibility? Somthing like the attached pictures. Someone please help!!

definitely possible and even popular again. Look up Boone paints for flooring. Done right, it will last as long as any hardwood flooring with just basic cleaning.

But it won't be all that cheap, that's for sure.

What are oak construction boards? Are you talking about the wood they use for pallets?
Most rough wood, would need to be machined so it would be suitable for your intended use.
Definitely possible, but with substantial labor.

"cheap wood" is usually rough cut & not necessarily flat.

you would have to use serious screws to hold them down and then hit the floor with 20 grit drum sander to level. start with no less than 1" thick wood!
