cedar water tank

I'd like to build a 6' X 2 1/2' X 18" water "pool" for my two labs so they can soak and cool down in this heat. It will go in the 5' X 18' run. I need to know if I can use cedar boards, like tongue and groove flooring or the like. Would it swell and seal? I thought of cutting down an old stock tank, but the ones that aren't being used are in really bad shape.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thank you.

Your Cedar plan is an expensive fail.

Find something else that will already hold water and bury it.

Wally World Kiddy Pool comes to my mind.

Thank you for your reply. Only problem with that is, the run is cemented for ease of clean-up. I have a plastic kiddy pool on our deck that they use, but I'd like to come up with something I can put in the run so they can use it when I'm not at home to supervise.
