cedar chest with a laminate finish


I have an old cedar chest (50 years plus) and it has a laminate finish on it. Some of the laminate is chipped and broken off. Can I remove the remaining laminate, then buy laminate and glue it on?

A picture would help----But yes you can if the surface is flat.
