casters nonrotational
  • methods to attach non swivel casters on rear of a lectern so that they only engage when lectern is tipped back and are otherwise not engaged and lectern then sits flush on the floor

You are trying to make a dolly---mount the castors in such a way that they are just above the floor when the unit is sitting on the floor--

Post a picture--You could simply mount the plate on the face of the lectern just above the floor--ugly but functional--or the lectern could be modified so the wheels are inset into the face.

Pictures please.

I was thinking that portable table saws use this method and it works for them. Even a wheelbarrow does and it is hard to push before you lift it.
Mount 2 wheels on one side, the other side use 2 feet or pads that will not easily slide on the floor.
Do it side to side not front to back as there is less pushing in regular use that way.
