Car port
I'm building a carport and had a question about 2x6 span. It's 13' from pole to pole, will 2x6's be adequate support for that span? The only weight it will be holding is the plywood and roll out 2 ply roofing. Thx

Is this a shed roof or gable roof, where are you located, how about snow loads?

It's basically just an open carport coming off off a house. Mid Texas, snow isn't really an issue. So it's really just 2x6 cover that comes off the house with a 12-2 pitch.

are you using the 2x6 for rafters or a beam to support the rafters?

As the rafters

I suppose I could also put some angles supports coming off of the poles to add additional support as well.

you'd need to call your local building department to determine the minimum live load for your roof. then use the appropriate span table. these tables are as found in the 2009 International Residential Code.

typically you'd have beams that support the rafters and columns that support the beams
