Cabinet question

What's a typical distance between an upper cabinet and the side of the kitchen sink or the edge of the window above the kitchen sink?

There is no standard, as long as there's room for the winodw trim.
Plus the only way to adjust it would be to add a spacer between the last and next to last cabinet which may look odd.

Typically a basin cabinet is 36" and the wall units stack exactly over the base units...
But like Joe says, what really matters is how it looks when you're done.
