cabinet handles before finishing?

should i drill all my holes for my handles before staining and finishing my cabinets?

It makes absolutely no difference.

I probably would, simply because I could mark light pencil layout lines on the wood for the hole locations and then sand them off after drilling. But, you can do the same thing on a layer of masking tape over the finished cabinets.

If you use a template and a backer board when you drill the holes, you will be fine. The backer board is clamped behind the door/drawer so the bit doesn't, "blow out" the wood fibers when it comes out the back.
