Cabinet Door Hinges
I'm looking to replace my kitchen cabinet door hinges. I had planned on painting the cabinets and thought an easy thing to do would be to change the hinges...wrong!
I was hoping to find an exact match to the existing hinges so the the screw holes would line up. The picture below shows my old hinge on top and a new Amerock hinge on the bottom. If you look close you can see the tab where the three screws hold the hinge to the door is longer than the new hinge. Can anyone tell me where I might be able to find a hinge that would match? I would assume these are standard variable overlay hinges but it appears the standard has changed over the last 30 years. thanks |

This will be trail and error. Take the hinge to the local stores and try to match it up.

Never ASS/U/ME. Start a Googel Search for Amerock hinges; also can try calling company talking to them. Tho hinge may be out of production they may have a newer version with same hole pattern.

Perhaps Rockler Woodworking may have what you need. They have a website and stores as well.

It's not just the hole pattern, it's also the offset space from the hinge. If it's the wrong offset the doors won't close properly if they're side by side. If you're going to try to get these from vendors you can't get to , make copies of the hinge and send it to the vendors. Write on the copy any pertinient measurements. They can just match up the picture with their stock. You still might need to modify the doors if you can only get a close match. Ron |

Amerock is still in business but so much of that type of hardware is now mades as we call it "offshore" so the template for it may not match up.
If your hinges are still good, I would clean em good and hang em on a nail and spray paint em. Just wiggle the hinges a little while they are drying to keep the paint from sticking. It would be a lot cheaper than new... |
