Building a Cot - help/advice/tips required please!

Hi all, great forum.

I want to build a cot, for a baby. It will be made of wood and will need to have one side which lowers to make lifting a baby in and out of the cot easier. It would also benefit from having a base which can be set at two levels.

I am a competent DIYer but have not built a cot before!

I’d be extremely grateful if anyone, perhaps who may have built one before, could give me any advice/tips about things that are important to consider. What are the pitfalls to watch out for or even if there are any legal requirements?

Any info would be very useful!

Many thanks,

Henry Marshall

I have done a lot of things, but while it certainly sounds like a fun and rewarding project, this is one that I would not attempt. My advice, with all due respect, would be "don't do it", but if your heart is set on it, you need to do some serious research first. Even those who specialize in such things, Graco, and others, have had serious problems in this regard. Just one persons two cents worth.
