bUILDING 4 POST BED FOR DAUGHTER

I Am New To These Forums And I Am Building A 4 Post Bed For My Daughter.

She Is 3 And I Am Looking For Good Posts For The Corners.
They Need To Be 6 To 8 Foot Tall, Tapering Is Optional.
Where Are Good Places To Go To Get These.

I Would Like To Spend What Is Necessary, But Not Alot More.

Thanks Dan

Go to a Lumber Supply House/Yard. They should be able to order some for you. Another option is to go to a Millwork Business and talk to them, they also may be able to locate, order, or mill some for you.

What you are looking for are called "Turned Posts" in the lengths that you specified...

Don't bother with a Lumber Yard. Go to a millwork shop or a hardwood dealer. In urban areas you'll have a number of hardwood dealers, and many will offer services like surface-4-sides, or glue-ups if you don't have the capabilities. In less-populated areas there's usually a millwork shop that also sells hardwoods. A shop like that could do any shaping you wanted. Taper the posts for you, or turn some nice posts. If you're looking to keep cost down, skip the turning, and do a tapered post. (IMO untapered posts will look awkward.)

Thanks for taking the time to give me suggestions.
We do have a Hardwood shop about 30 minutes away.
I will check with them.

Thanks again,

Dan

price out your materials and time for your labor for this project,
then check craigslist.org for local used beds. She will prolly outgrow the bed
and it may be cheaper going the used route.
