I was taking up a composite deck board over the weekend to examine a downspout. As I was backing out one of the deck screws with my drill driver, it snapped in half. SO, part of the screw is now in the deck. I don't want to dig in there because it is composite. What is the best way to get rid of it? Drill down over it?
Take the rest of the screws out of the damaged board.
Pry the board off the damaged screw taking care not to damage adjacent boards.
Now you can remove the screw or hit it with a hammer and it should break off flush.
re-install the board using the same holes.
