big radius corners - DIY Chatroom

Creating an entertainment center and looking at some things the pros do. One thing in particular is a nice touch where some edges are rolled with a 4-5" radius. Trying to figure out how to frame that and then drywall. I think there is flexible corner bead for the edges.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to frame this up. I'll post some pics of what I'm talking about when I get home.

Thaks for that link. This is a bgi radius at a corner like a 5" radius for a wall. The corner bead gives a 3/4" radius.

The cornerbead you posted does show the flexible type though for moving around a arch. I may need some of that also.

that bottom one looks like a challenge but do-able

small wall radius or molding???

for a wall theres several ways

I'm going to round like the corner of that last picture. This is all out side corners.

I uploaded my cad drawing and I marked the corners I want to round like that. I can frame the rest of it but unsure how to get a big radius like that and then drywall it.

Use wood strips cut with a trapezoidal cross section, like you are making a strip-planked boat hull?
For a 5" radius, you'd need 8 ea. ~1" wide wood strips, bevel cut on two edges to slightly more than 5.5°. The wide sides of the strips goes on the out (visible) side of this rounded corner.

Proposed definition for outside corner:
if a corner looks like an arrowhead

from above, it's an outside corner if the point is pointing at, or the bullet is heading toward, the observer.
