Bifold door size question?
I have a closet under stairs that a previous owner knocked out and framed, that had a pair of thin louvered bifold doors. I removed the doors and old beat up, out-of-plumb jambs some time ago (door would never stay on the track). I'm finally getting around to redoing them in my never ending whole house remodeling effort.

I have reframed to a finished opening of 54" wide by 77 and 1/4 high. I took that measurement to HD to order a pair of faux wood molded hollow core custom bifold doors from Jeld Wen to fit the finished frame measurements.

The doors arrived. When each hinged pair is butted together where they will separate, they measure 53 and 1/8 inch wide in total.

1. Is a 7/8 inch difference between the pair's total width and the finished frame within acceptable tolerance, or is the pair too short in total width?

2. Can you install door stops on the sides of door jams with bifold doors to hide the gap?

Thanks for info you can provide.

Yes, you can install door stops on bifolds.

7/8" divided into three is around 5/16" so that works for spacing between the doors and jambs...

hand drive is right. at the jamb sides you need almost 3/8 of clearance for them to properly operate.. simply play around with the pin in the floor track until you get an even margin on both doors while still able to properly operate without rubbing on the jamb or each other
