bifold alternative or how to make bi fold work

I have just redone my kitchen. The last step was to replace the bifold doors that cover the laundry area/closet in my kitchen. The originals didn't fit well and were almost 25 years old.
Turns out that in the middle of the door opening (approximately 60" wide) the frame sinks down about 3/4 ". There was no way to intall the new bi-folds unless of course we sawed them down. I would really like them to fit well and not look hodgepodged. I am afraid that sawing ends of would look pretty cobbled.
Does anyone have a suggestion for an alternative for the bifolds? The closet houses a standard washer(top loading) and dryer(front loading) as well the water heater in the end behind drywall.
The simpler the better. My kitchen is very modern.
Thanks, Janie

remove the casing head on both sides of the frame and see about getting the bow out. that in it's self would kill the doors or hardware in no time. once completed install new doors. BOB

I'm with bob, find out why the opening sags and fix it first, then the door problem will go away. Sounds like someone opened up the doorway but the hearder was inadequate.

I've had pretty good luck cutting down bifold doors when the need presents itself. I've remodeled a number of places with non-standard openings that I had to "modify" off the shelf doors to fit into. A little sanding and paint, and nobody will ever know except you.

Even if you sawed them down to match the sagged opening, they will not work. Depending on whether these are 4 or 2 panel doors, when you operate them, the pivot pin(s) will either jump out of the track or bind up with a 3/4" difference . Afraid you'll either have to straighten the header so it is flat, or install a pair of hinged doors.

You have a structural issue with the header over the opening. This should have been addressed early in the renovation. Now you need to remove the sheetrock around the opening and reframe it.
When you get to the point of installing the new hardware, stick to Johnson, Grant or another good quality hardware.

I knew in my heart I would have to address the header-arghhhhhhhh
I will study up and see if it is something that this ole 57 y.o. woman can handle herself.
Thanks again, Janie

Could you post a picture of the complete door way? Lets see what we come up with, It could be the head piece was not nailed correctly. We don't know until we can see. It could very well be a header issue, or something minor. Thanks BOB
