Best paintable and toolable caulk?

Finishing some trim work - I've installed primed door and crown trim that I will paint white, and I need to caulk a few seams (I prefer the seamless look). I did a HUGE trim job in the master last year (1x4s on ceiling, window, crown and base trim) and used a paintable caulk that tooled nicely with just some water and my fingertips. Thought it was a GE product, and bought another tube of what I thought was the same (and paid up for it, having the learned the lesson earlier about cheaping out on caulk - NEVER AGAIN). It's not the same - doesn't tool well at all. Tried a Lexel caulk - a little better, but not great.

What do you recommend I try next? Thanks.

I use Alex 230. Apply, wipe in with a finger, then wipe again with a damp sponge.
Biggest mistake people do is use to much calking and just go back and have to wipe it all back off. There's is no need to have it all over the wall or trim, only need it in the gap.

precisely its only there to elminate the thin black line where wood meets drywall. cut a very small tip too. no more than 1/16" and sand the edges of the tip so it glides smoother

dap by "alex" is the only thing i use from them.. their exterior caulkings are garbage
