Bathroom Vanity -- Using a filler on sides and front

I bought a vanity/sink combo for my half-bath.

My space is 34 inches wide.
My vanity is 30 inches wide.
My sink is 31 inches wide.

So I need to fill in 1 1/2 inches along each side of the sink (horizontally) as well as vertically along the sides of the vanity.

I bought a 3 inch filler piece to slice in half lengthwise and cut into lengths accordingly. But now where those fillers meet just below the sink, one rough side will be exposed. What is normally done here? Paint it with a stain?

I would miter a 45 degree angle where they meet, that would solve the problem.

Thanks for the tip. Will give that a try.

Iron on Edge Ban

you can get the Iron on Edge Banding and stain it to match

I did the miter at a 45 degree angle and it looks great. Thanks for the suggestion.

Now, regarding those 2 filler strips just to the left and right of the sink, what would you recommend treating it with? I'm sure eventually water might sit there, and I'm wondering what could prevent any water damage.
