Basement Stairwell Storage Project.

My access to our basement is just off the kitchen. I wanted more
storage space for extra cleaning products and extra food, as my
food pantry in the kitchen is not big enough.
Here is a clever idea that we came with (I think it's clever anyhow )
Note: The stairs to the second floor is over this stair well and that's why the stairwell is sloped.

The head knot wanted raised paneled doors, so that's what we made.
Also, we used all scraps from our workshop, poplar, oak, pine, whatever we could scurry up...

The knobs, are from a yard sale, I bought a bag full of these white knobs.
The sloped wall is old paneling -- we used the other side.

I originally planned on painting everything white, however, after seeing it
finished, I said, lets just leave it all natural and just use poly, so that we
never have to paint it. The head knot loved that idea.

The grab bar on the ceiling was the head knots idea for extra safety.

I have to go through lots of pics to give you a full overview.

Also, all cabs are screwed in and can be removed just in case
something big has to be bought up or down.

I left open a spot for my iron

It's deeper than I pictured it in my mind.

I got tired looking through the archives, so I just took a couple
of new ones.

I like that it holds cleaning products, we have a total
of three cabs that hold cleaning products...I actually was
surprised that by just going between 2 x 4's the shelves
as so spacious.

Wish I could say "wow, you had a great idea", but I have seen many old farm houses in New England with the same thing, (usually no doors). It worked then and still does I see, when you are clever. Another one I have seen is about a 6" or 8" section of a sapling, flattened on the back, with a branch stub opposite, screwed to the wall or stud, that makes a great hanger peg. Curved branch, or angled branch upwards. Remember, the old Yankees were in this country before most of the rest of it was civilized.

Well now, This is not the first time that I invented something that has
already been invented! I come up with a lot of them! Really.

Non the less, I like the extra storage room close to the kitchen
and like the finished look as well....
So, Duckweather...I'll try and grant your wish, and think of
another great idea that I came up with...
