Basement peninsula bar
I would like to build a peninsula bar in my basement and would like to use just regular base cabinets from Ikea in order to keep costs down (bar will come out at a right angle from the wall)
My question is, is it better to build a pony wall coming out from the wall in order to attached the cabinets to or can the cabinets be secured to the floor as is? Also what is the best way to secure the cabinets to the floor? Can I just secure some PT 2x4's to the concrete and then secure the cabinets to the PT 2x4's? The bar will not have any electrical so there will be no need to run wire or anything like that.
I asked the people in Ikea and they couldn't really give me a straight answer and recommended I buy an island to use as a bar (which is twice as expensive).
Thanks for your help:thumbsup:
The back of cabinets are not finsihed so you will need something to finish the look. I would but up a pony wall so you could finish it off with what ever material you like (sheet rock, brick looks good for a bar). The cabinet will brace the wall and vise a versa. There are other ways of doing this but this is just one idea.
