Basement Framing Question
I'm getting ready to frame my basement and had a question as to how far the framed wall should be from the concrete wall. I live in Castle Rock Colorodo and would like advice from anyone who has finised their basement.

Far enough so you are not securing your bottom plate to any under-slab, perimeter drainage. And a little airspace, say 1" couldn't hurt.

Find your locale in here, frame it as brought out for your specifics:

I agree 1" minimum spacing should be used. Good luck.:)

This may be covered by code, but TPTB in my municipality in Boulder County said "your choice but we prefer it as small as possible for the sake of easier fireblocking". My foundation walls aren't plumb or square so I ended up with more space in some areas than others in squaring everything up.

Most Colorado codes require floating walls in framed basements, which can complicate the process if your floors and joists aren't level. Planning for an inch should leave plenty of room for error.
