Basement finishing

I'm about to finish my basement and I had a few thoughts about it. I was thinking I'd use foam panels in between the studs as insulation, and a plastic sheet vapor barrier. On the floor I thought I'd use a paint type sealant. Does anyone have suggestions on this stuff, whether products, procedures, or whatever else? I would appreciate it.

What climate are you in, that is, where are you located?

Mid Michigan. I've had the basement waterproofed. They did it a different kinda way where they pretty much let the water into a weep system in the floor. So I'm not worried so much about water so much as moisture.

I would not use any type of foam plastic insulation where fire can get to it. The fumes that burning foam gives off are extremely toxic. You already have a vapor barrier on your basement walls with the waterproofing. Not sure if another retarder is a good idea.

Sounds like you really have a water managed system, not water proof.

1) Rigid foam on the walls to keep the warm air from coming in contact with the cold concrete walls.
2) Frame walls tight against the foam. Foam is your vapor barrier.
3) spray foam seal top and bottom of the rigid foam
4) use pressure treated bottom plate and sill gasket
5) Batt insulation into framed wall
