Does anyone know how to attach this type of bar rail properly? Does it just attach through the top rabbet or is there some special trick with the layers of plywood I am missing.
I have used bar rail where the rabbets sit on each layer of plywood but this style is different. The problem is the rabbets are not parallel with each other and it drops on an angle. Seems to be a very common style.
Bud has it right. That is a standard bar rail that has been used for years.I have used it in residential as well as commercial bars. One gas been there 20 years without problems.Install with the top rabbet.
You're right it is not easily supported I put some of this style on a commercial tavern bar that was 39' long back in the early 90's and it's still fine.Guess we get lucky sometimes. I think I put some blocks in to support it but really can't remember .
Yes I have used this style on a number of bars as well and basically glue and screw it using only the top notch and all bars have no issues, Seems to be the only profile I can get. I was just wondering if I was missing something with this profile.
I don't think you are missing anything. If you think teetering will be a concern then you could fashion some knee-braces in under the profile in a couple places.
