arbor

I am building an arbor. One end will be attached to the garage. The other end will extend 11'. I will be using 2"x8"x12' rafters, spaced 16" on center. The over all width will be 11'6", 9 rafters total. How much support will I need to carry the weight of the 9 rafters?

Consider using a 2"x8" structural aluminum boxed beam and paint it.
My 2x10 yellow pine beam rotted out after 5 years.
You can purchase these at most screen enclosure suppliers.
