Adjustable basketball hoop and backboard
Hi, I'm new to this site but have done some construction work. My biggest project was the design and construction of my 8x10 foot storage shed. I am a woman and I only weigh 120 pounds, but I built the whole thing myself and it's still standing and in great shape 13 years later. :)
Now I am trying to devise a way to hang a basketball hoop and backboard to the ouside wall or door so that it can be raised and lowered as my border collie becomes more proficient at shooting hoops. I have purchased a hoop and backboard that has top brackets designed to go over an interior door. It is made of metal and plastic that look like they will withstand outdoor weather. It will be sheltered by the 12" roof overhang. I know I can buy shelf standards, but would they be the best option and how could I fit the brackets to the standards? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
We would need a picture to be of the best hep---But--If you bent the brackets over into an L shape--Drilled a few holes--I'm sure you could fasten those to the back of the basket--then hang it on the shelf standards---That would be simple and cheap--
I had a basket ball loving Australian Sheppard---Have fun and post a picture of you pup!!!
I think that will work! Since I'm a metalsmith, I have the tools to bend the brackets evenly and drill the holes, so I'm gonna try this. I'll post pics when it's done.
