Adding sliding glass doors to built-in shelves?

Is this a project I want to steer clear of?

My daughter is starting to crawl and I'd like to put the cable box, receiver etc. on the built-ins and put some doors on there to keep her from "helping herself" if you know what I mean.

Do you have a pic of what you're starting with?

I'll grab one at home later. Think very plain though - basically a perfect square w/ movable shelves.

Having raised seven children the youngest now 12, I will offer up a few words of wisdom on this subject.
Children and any type of glass do not go well together.....ever......period.
Use wood for the doors.
But eventually they learn how to open those too!
Best bet is too just raise the items up about 7ft. from the floor. Good luck!! And welcome to parenthood !!!

You will probably have to take the units apart to cut the dado grooves for the doors to slide in.

Nice hinged cabinet doors would be a better option.

frame out a door like you would frame out a picture frame and use acrylic instead of glass, then you just have to use a few hinges.

add some trim to the rest of the piece to tie in the new doors
