Ac Install

I am trying to figure out the best way to cut vinyl sidind to put a AC unit in the side of the house. How do i wrap the J-channel around the AC and nail it so it looks nice. Thanks for your advice

Are you putting in a window type unit and if so, is it going in a new opening versus a window?

You would have to remove the siding that is in the area that you plan on installing your AC unit.

Go thru all the steps of installing the AC unit (that is a whole nother ballgame):
see: http://www.creativehomeowner.com/index.php?

Important: Make sure that you seal that AC unit up good before you install the Vinyl siding.

The J-channel is installed on the exterior wall sheathing using 1 1/4" roof tacks (NOT onto the AC unit). If you want to know more about installing this, see this link and study the section on installing J-channel around windows:

The application would be the same around your AC unit. Again, make sure that you properly weather-seal around the AC unit itself, prior to re-installing your vinyl components.
