Question

3/8" Eng Hardwood Install???

Is it ok to use 16 ga cleats to nail intall 3/8" engineered hardwood? Also what cleat is best to use for this "T" cleat or the "L" cleat? What's the difference of the two? I'm hoping to purchase a flooring nailer around $150. Thers tons of 15-16 ga floor nailers in this price range. The manufacture of the wood says to use 20-18 ga nail cleats, pricing on these guns are pricey!$$. That leads me to my ? On using a 16 ga nailer, these flooring nailers are around my price range. Would this be a cause for concern if I go this rout? ( I'm installing a lil over 800 sq ft...) please help...

If you don't follow the manufacturers recommendations, why bother with the job at all? If you can't afford to buy the correct tool for the job, rent the correct tool for the job.
