Timing of the loss of contact
Course changes

And of course I'm sure the Captain's wife and kids leaving him the day before had nothing to do with it...

Or upset about Anwar, de facto leader of the People's Justice Party, was sentenced to five years in jail after a court overturned his 2012 acquittal on a sodomy charge.

So....is the 'Wired' version credible....yes....but...when you start adding up all the 'excepts'....well....I'm less convinced...

Anytime there's an aviation story in the news I like to check this forum out. Although the speculation runs rampant there too I find it interesting to hear it from a pilots point of view. http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/safety/

Would this be counter to a Class 1 Multi-engine pilot with 20 years experience? (aka..general aviation, not commercial)

http://www.cnn.com/2014/03/18/world/...irlines-plane/

Quote:
A law enforcement official told CNN Tuesday that the aircraft's first turn to the west was almost certainly programmed by somebody in the cockpit.
The official, who has been briefed on the investigation, said the programmed change in direction was entered at least 12 minutes before the plane's co-pilot signed off to air traffic controllers, telling them, "All right, good night."

This is heartbreaking. If you're a parent, the video will touch you deeply.

My guess is we are going to see this jet again and it won't be carrying passengers.

I guess I'm not the only one who does not buy the 'smoke in the cockpit' story

http://www.businessinsider.com/malay...cockpit-2014-3

Quote:
The smoke-in-the-cockpit theory also isn't sitting well with some pilots we have talked to, including one who has flown the same type of plane as the one that disappeared, the 777-200ER.

These pilots point out that smoke in the cockpit is one of the most common emergencies that pilots train for and that 777s are equipped with full-face oxygen masks that the pilots would have put on before they did anything else. They also say that, unless the pilots ignored their training, they would then have run through a checklist of tasks that would have included descending rapidly and making an emergency radio call.

Australia to the rescue ??

At least they beat Courtney Love to it.

Given that most of the time Courtney doesn't even know where Courtney is

Possible debris found in the southern Indian Ocean. Ocean depths are 2 miles down in that remote area.
