Missing Malaysia Airlines Jet Flight 370

I posted it on another forum a week or so ago after talking to my next door neighbor (commercial 767 pilot).

He thinks the plane was stolen and likely for the purpose of delivering a device of some destruction at a later date.

I hope not but there is certainly enough indicators that this could be a possibility.

Usually these freaks that hijack planes or do religous terrorism WANT to make a statement before they go out with a big bang. Makes no sense that the pilot would not want to make a statement. People don't do things or expend energy for nothing. He would want something to gain/show the world by doing the suicide. Could of tried hijacking it and flying to some radical country and ran out of fuel or crashed along the way from flying too low to evade radar.

Last night on late night TV on Fox news they were talking about my Cellphone theory.
They must be watching the DIY post for ideas.

Missing Malaysia Airlines Jet Flight 370

What amazes me is how lazy or apathetic the Malaysian authorities have been about this lost plane. For the love of God, I cannot fathom why they wouldn't have gone to the pilots' homes within hours of knowing the plane went missing. Imagine if this had happened in a western nation. Authorities would have been at the home of the pilots within minutes of knowing something was up. The FBI would have people investigating and digging for clues/information all over the world. My gut feeling is that the Malaysians may have known the pilot had some radical leanings and when that trial didn't go the way he wanted it to, they sort of knew he may step over the edge and do something like this.

This (as crazy as it sounds) is certainly possible based on Iran's hatred of Israel:

What were the religious beliefs of the pilot and the typical Malaysian people? - Certainly not in step with Israel and probably not Christian that would use the word "God".

The pilot was arrested an convicted of sodomy and could have hidden past in addition to being a well experienced pilot and a great fan of flying. He also was politically active for some time.

A very strange situation that will take a lot of digging.

A startingly simple and logical theory. A fire. "The loss of transponders and communications makes perfect sense in a fire."

Sounds good....very unlikely....too many other things....

1. More than one radio....multiple ckts.
2. If he had a fire...there were plenty or airports he could have diverted too instead of continuing to fly.
3. The 777 is fly by wire....if there was a big enough fire to kill the radio...it would have killed the plane.

And the big thing....

The plane changed course....right after the hand off....look at this way...

You drop your kid off at a house to spend the night...he/she gets out and you see him/her walk to the front door...you both wave and you drive off....when your out of view, he/she takes off around the corner to go 'play'.

If you wanted to steal a plane and buy yourself some time....hand off is the time to do it. Hand off ATC is no longer looking for you and the accepting ATC is not looking for you yet because you have not checked in.

As any pilot will tell you...hand off goes something like this...

MA ATC "MH 370 Heavy, contact Viet ATC on 123.4"
MH 370 "Roger, 123.4, Good Day"

At this point...MH waits a few seconds...if he relayed the instructions wrong, MA ATC will correct. Otherwise, MH 370 changes to freq 123.4 and says "MH 370 Heavy checking in, flight level 350, good morning" or something like that. This all take place within 30 seconds or so.

At this point Viet ATC now knows that MH 370 is in it's ATC space and will be looking for it on the radar...basically confirming that it is at the speed and altitude that his mode C is telling it.

So, if you wanted to skip out of town...the hand off is the time to do it.

Yes I did.....and it's a good one....had this not happened at the hand off....I would give it a considerable amount of credibility...

But...when you factor in the timing of the event....along with the sudden changes in altitude....then it looses credibility.

The climb to 45K' and then down two 25K' are not consistent with auto pilot control.

And...setting a course change at the article suggests....with a cabin full of smoke? And they couldn't get out a MayDay?

Additionally....if it was on fire....they pilots would have gone to oxygen.....and could have gotten a mayday out...

But if we assume the pilot did set a course to the nearest airport....how do you explain the course change after it crossed over?

Well Dawg .. since you are a design engineer and the article is written by a seasoned pilot, which does address all three of your disputes.

I give it sufficient credibility
