His buddy may not want his name spread around the world, his buddy may not want to be reminded of the incident.

I should have clarified my request.

A simple link to the new story (obviously it would have been covered) would suffice.

That is open source information at that point.

Many things that happened 15 or 20 plus years ago are not going to be easy to find on the internet.

This thread is not about someone not searching for a particular item/article.

Stay on topic.

Very true.

Internet is pretty good about logging shootings by police officers.

I will start a new thread.

Gun Violence in America

How does one manage to stab 24 people? After one or two why wouldn't they just run away or were they all trying to be heroes and stop the guy?

Gun Violence in America

It was in a crowded hallway and a lot of it was slashing. And you wonder what happens when these kids watch these slasher movies and violent video games.

Same reason that people didn't take back the first two plane on 9/11. There is a false sense of security in and most cases, people do not react or will not knowingly place themselves in harm's way.

It was a tight cluster and they probably all froze up.

Our society is not often exposed to firsthand violence and doesn't know what to do or how to react.

+1

I wonder how many were reaching for their remote controls to fight back.

So sad that some disturbed individual would do this.

I wonder if Juan Williams will call for banning all the knives now that freaking dope.

What about the camera man who had time to pull out his camera and record a guy getting hit by a train...but didn't have time to go help.....

In this very interesting and informative video, an investigative news team discuss the gun craze in America. A large percentage of guns used in criminal activity are traced back to 3 gun stores. One in particular.

I wonder who is open minded enough to actually watch this

Different cultures have different levels of violence. The US is a violent country by a lot of measures and violent tendencies are the driving force behind violent acts. Compare the numbers, per capita, of people in the US killed with knives and screwdrivers, with homicide stats in other countries. If the simple presence of guns equated to more gun death, then Switzerland would be a bloodbath.

Also, dramatic increases in CCW in virtually every state that implemented those laws corresponded with decreases in gun violence.

Lott and Kopp have both published exhaustive and excellent works showing no, or negative correlation of gun violence with gun availability.

Finally, Obama's own studies he requested by CDC and Harvard came back late last year with results also confirming this. That's why it never made the news, doesn't fit the agenda.......

For those that hadn't heard bout that last tidbit, read here.

Gun Violence in America

.....and to address the OP's topic.

I'm an NRA instructor. The way I see firearms handled by many people gives me the chills. I just read about some woman suing Remington because the trigger could accidentally cause the firearm to discharge (Remington issued a recall to correct the problem). However, in this case the woman was clearing the chamber when it discharged, apparently DOING SO WITH THE MUZZLE AIMED AT HER CHILD!

ALWAYS keep the firearm aimed in a safe direction.

NEVER allow the muzzle to cover something you don't wish destroyed.

I want the slap people silly when I see stuff like this. So, my suggestion, mandatory and repeated firearm safety testing. It's like having to take a drivers test now and then. This would reduce the number of accidental deaths by firearms. I'm also pleased to say that training is having an impact as the number of accidental firearms related deaths has been dropping despite record purchases or firearms.

It will do nothing for criminals. For the criminal element, one simple suggestion...reduce recidivism. Violent criminals don't get sympathy, early release or any of the stuff that keeps them recycling over and over and over.

I think a lot of the reason revolves around the fact that people are not trying to counter-attack, they're simply trying to get away. People have to fight back against an attacker to stop him, but if the attacker is armed, any single individual is at a big disadvantage. All the attacker has to do is find them and catch them if they're simply trying to get away or hide.
