How can I access free word processing software?

Ditch trying to find free-ware. I used various programs like Abiword and OpenOffice.

Turns out that there are a lot of little quirky problems that can be annoying - but more so they lack compatible tags and so forth. Last year I was using Abiword and took a grade-dive because my saved version of my english essay was jumbled, pissed me off.

Just take a trip to Walmart or where ever and get Microsoft Works 9 or whatever version is now available (or whatever other text-authoring program is out there) - might cost $20 or $30 - but when you buy it the quality is a bit higher and they have less problems.

How can I access free word processing software?

Yep. That's what it did to the document when I printed it out. It was scrambled all over the page (lost the centering, lost the tabs, etc.).

This morning when I was in that browser box of the Internet site and trying to upload my Microsoft Works document that has the .wsp extension, it wouldn't let me upload it. It gave me the message that it had to end with .txt. Now I'm back to square one.

Any other ideas where I can get a free word processing software that I can create a document with the .txt extension?

www.downloads.com

open an account and download/try out various programs - there's a lot more out there than everyone here can imagine.

I believe it is Microsoft Works that is giving me the problem. When I create a document in Microsoft Works, it automatically gives it a .wsp extension. And the problem is when I try to use a Web site's "browse" box to upload that document. It won't let me because it has that .wsp extension.

in the file dialog box you can usually select a file type to upload. depending on where you are uploading it may limit the file types accepted, but just because your .wsp file isnt the default option doesnt mean you can't upload it.

When I tried to upload my .wsp file, it gave me an error message that said that I couldn't upload that type of file; that it had to be a text file. I eventually got around it by cutting and pasting the text into a blank box. But it'd sure be nice if I could just send an attachment instead of cutting and pasting because when I cut and paste, I can't utilize the center or tab functions.

Thanks, everyone, for trying to help me.
