throttle kit?

Does anyone know of a way to add a throttle control
to these newer pre-set walk behind mower engines?

Thanks

I'm sure you know that you can pick up such a kit at any farm & home store, etc. I've seen then recently for about $10.

If it were my mower, I'd pull off the covers and do some checking. There may or may not be a "throttle lever" that can be drilled and utilized for this purpose. It's really a crap-shoot.

Also, make sure you don't do this if the mower is still under warranty. Obviously...

Most are set at the factory and no way to adjust the carb throttle. Go to the local Farm & Home store with a small engine shop and talk to those guys. They can tell you if it is worth putting a throttle on the mower.

Why would you want one?
A mower is suppose to be running wide open when cutting.
When would you need a lower speed?

If I did... why would I ask?

Mine had the little lever peened down on top of the tank. Once that is free to move you can connect a cable to it.
